I think it’s great that residential/mixed-use development is happening where Delacey Place is. For an area that once had no connection to the rest of the city due to its forlorn status, this area that Delacey Place now stands, along with the greatly massive Westgate project under construction (842 units, IIRC) right across the street, will not only become just another pleasant place to live in Pasadena, but more importantly, the area will add to the ever expanding boundaries of Pasadena’s walkable areas. Being a strong believer and supporter that Pasadena will continue to lead the way in LA County in building a city for pedestrians, I am always excited to cover updates on mixed-use developments, such as Delacey Place.
A few highlights from the property include:
- Actual individual garages with garage doors, but all underground.
- Glass-bottom pool and jacuzzi that allows someone from underneath the pool (actually in the lobby) to semi-view the action above.
- According to the agent, it would be close to impossible to hear someone above or below because of the construction between the floors. Quite simply, think of 8-inches of empty space sandwiched by 3-inches of concrete.
The prices are in the $600 a square foot range and HOA fees are in the $600 range as well. Considering that it’s brand new construction with quite a bit of amenities (gym, pool, security guard, etc.), I thought the HOA fee was reasonable. Not cheap, but reasonable.
