The streets of Little Tokyo are thriving once again (day and night)
Remember the time when nary a soul wandered the streets of Little Tokyo (except for a few homeless guys straying away from Skid Row)? Yeah, that was about 5 years ago and in a blink of an eye Little Tokyo is now one of the most thriving districts in Downtown LA (packed on the weekends). And it seems like a new restaurant is opening up every month sometimes (like this and this) putting this awesome ethnic enclave back on the foodie map.
Check out the newest restaurants coming to Little Tokyo.

Mr. Pizza is the Korean take on the Italian staple with the only other location on Wilshire Blvd in Koreatown near the Wilshire/Western Purple Line station

Mr. Pizza will be opening up in the newly remodeled Japanese Village Plaza

I would constantly bug the manager at every Shin Sen Gumi I went to eat at to open in Little Tokyo so I am beyond ecstatic they are finally opening here, replacing Izayoi

A "Coming Soon" sign on the Shin Sen Gumi window
A coffee bar (name unknown)

A new coffee bar will be replacing the former Robeks Juice space

The new coffee bar will open up on the ground floor at the Hikari Apartments next door to the also brand-newish Flying Pig restaurant

I don’t really get the whole do-it-yourself pizza restaurant idea, and I’m always amused at Japanese/ Korean interpretations of pizza. (I remember corn pizza in Tokyo).
But, more food options are always welcome…
also coming to little tokyo on 1st street is fat spoon. the latest restaurant by “lazy ox” michael cardenas.
dont forget Demitasse Coffee Bar or Xlixe which just opened a few weeks ago. LiTo is finally growing into its own distinct area. throw in a few more neighorhood amenities and badda bing!
This is awesome! I’ve always enjoyed Mr. Pizza in Koreatown, so glad they’re coming walking distance for me!!
Little Tokyo has become quite a dining scene with more to come!
