New Escalators Installed Over the Weekend at FIGat7th in Downtown LA

The active construction going on at FIGat7th–currently undergoing a $41 million remodeling job–continues to chug along toward an expected fall 2012 grand opening as new escalators were installed over the past weekend on Saturday morning (2/11/12). A crane was brought in to hoist the new escalators into place creating a new pedestrian-oriented entrance along Figueroa St. The placement of the escalators along the sidewalk allows pedestrians to access the newly remodeled FIGat7th with ease instead of the former placement of escalators tucked away, hidden in the back of the complex.

So far, the largest tenant that has been confirmed at the new FIGat7th is City Target, which will occupy close to 100,000 square feet of the complex. The former restaurant tenant when the complex was named 7th+Fig, George’s Greek Cafe, will return to the food court, called Taste, on the lowest level. There have also been rumors that Sprinkles Cupcakes and B Grill by BOA Steakhouse (with a location at LAX) have signed on as well. An expected announcement of the full list of confirmed tenants in the new FIGat7th should be out in the next several months.

It was October of last year that we got a sneak peek inside City Target under construction. Check out the video if you missed it.

Sprinkles would be a fun addition to DT. Any other store rumors? With an anchor like Target, there has to be some other good ones.
