Om Nom Organic Food Retailer Opening Soon at Eastern Columbia in Downtown LA

Om Nom Organics is a new organic food retailer coming soon to the Eastern Columbia near 9th and Broadway

Back in May 2012, we received a tip from a downtown resident that a new juice bar called “HiVital” would be leasing the back corner space on 9th Street at the Eastern Columbia condo building (quite arguably one of the most prominent and beautiful historic structures in Los Angeles). The retail space has sat vacant without much work done inside until this past week when new signs were put up on the windows announcing not just a juice bar but an “organic food retailer” called Om Nom Organics.

The website for Om Nom Organics doesn’t describe much about the retailer but we can safely assume the store will likely sell organic products similar to other like-minded stores. Perhaps a mini-Whole Foods isn’t out of the question.

The arrival of Om Nom Organics is another boon to the burgeoning corner of 9th and Broadway, which has experienced an amazing renaissance over the last year, especially with Ace Hotel coming in late 2013. The opening of Umamicatessen in March along with Two Boots Pizza (from NYC) in April have also helped put the southern section of Broadway back on the foodie map.

Om Nom Organics joins angelo:HOME (a boutique furniture store) at Eastern Columbia. The organic food retailer will begin initial build-out soon and will likely open by the end of this year.

  1. sweet! thanks for sharing.

  2. This is great news! And as for the demise of the juice bar concept, I suppose a PR firm, or maybe even an elementary school student, convinced them that a juice bar with a name that starts with “HIV” would not be a good idea.

  3. i’m very excited about this! another great thing about this spot is that there is a nice little patio spot attached to the side of the store. i’m hoping that they’ll have a juice and/or coffee counter inside and little tables on the patio.

  4. More terrific Broadway news Brigham. Maybe we should call you Broadway Brigham. ;-)

  5. This is such awesome news for grocery-shy area.

  6. Very exciting! Would love for something like Atwater Village Farm. It’s a small store, but well curated. Seems similar in size to the space at the EC. http://atwatervillagefarm.com
