Fickle & The Sandwich Smith Coming to Little Tokyo in Downtown LA

Fickle LA & The Sandwich Smith (two eatery concepts under one roof) coming soon to the Japanese Village Plaza in Little Tokyo

This summer, one of the most highly visible corners in Little Tokyo was finally leased to a new “dual restaurant” concept in the Japanese Village Plaza at First and Central (across from the Japanese American National Museum). The new upscale casual eatery is divided into two concepts under one roof: one called Fickle and the other called The Sandwich Smith (both websites are currently offline as of today).

The window signs for Fickle and The Sandwich Smith went up last week (thanks to downtown resident Jim Winstead for the tip). Because their websites are still not online yet, we can only gather from the signs that Fickle will serve “farm to table seasonal chef inspired dishes” and The Sandwich Smith will serve “fresh seasonal farmers market sandwiches, salads, and pastries.”

A peek inside the space reveals that initial prep work for construction has begun. An opening in late 2012 or early 2013 seems likely.
