Some exciting news coming to the Medallion Apartments at 4th and Main in the Old Bank District, which opened in the summer of 2010 and will be getting a new Simply Salad (opening next week right before Christmas). A new sushi restaurant called Sushi Zo from the Westside will be coming to the corner space that was once geared for a new Brick Crossfit gym with a lease deal that fell through unexpectedly. At approximately 1,600 square feet large, this will be the only high-end Japanese sushi restaurant in Historic LA. The restaurant gets a high rating on Yelp with 4.5 out of 5 stars (over 500 reviews) with customers raving about the omakase style served at the Palms location.
Historic LA has been experiencing a tremendous wave of new restaurants lately, making Downtown LA one of the hottest dining destinations in the country. Eateries like Baco Mercat (Bon Appetit’s Hot Ten), Parish, as well as the future French bistro “Spring,” have really put Downtown LA on the map overnight it seems.
I don’t expect the Sushi Zo to open until probably mid-to-late 2013. The restaurant will have to file for construction permits, build out the space, and then pass inspections before opening.
