Simply Salad’s newest and second downtown location is now open at 4th/Main in the Old Bank District
It’s been almost a year since we reported that Simply Salad was opening their second location in the Old Bank District at 4th and Main in the Medallion Apartments. After a few delays, the fast-casual, build-your-own salad shop finally opened this week on Monday, Jan 28, 2013. Apparently, the delays stemmed from unforeseen infrastructure challenges, including the need to install new plumbing, etc. that will now likely benefit other future restaurants opening in the building (like Sushi Zo and Dr. J’s Vibrant Cafe) since the deficiencies are now mostly met.
Simply Salad, according to their site, specializes in “the freshest custom-built signature salads and wraps with over 65 toppings and over 25 salad dressings” as the perfect alternative to “food-coma inducing burgers and burritos.”
The first Simply Salad location opened in 2010 in South Park at the Market Lofts, which did very well serving the large lunch crowd being so close to the Financial District in addition to so many residents living nearby. The new location in the Old Bank District focuses instead on serving more residents than office workers. Hours are currently still in flux as the co-owner, Cameron Lewis, feels out the local demand. Nevertheless, the light-fare eatery is open for dinner with a goal to stay open until 9pm.

The new Simply Salad has a bright and airy design matching the light-fare custom-built salads

Over 65 toppings and 25 salad dressings are available

A variety of greens are available including romaine, kale, and arugula

Catering is available as well

Yay! Looking forward to more choices in the area.
Simply Salad is great and I’m glad they’ve ventured east!
Hooray for a more healthy option! I’m happy that they plan on opening until 9 p.m. Sometimes I just wanna grab a chicken or seafood salad for dinner , right after my workouts. There’s only so many high caloric, cholesterol-ladened meals one can handle.
It’s nice that Dtla is getting all of these restaurants, but I don’t understand why retail won’t come in. Yeah Ross and Target is a great improvement, but those are department stores, I would like to see a Guess store, or Banana Republic.
Patience. These things take time. First come the artists, then the restaurants. Then retail.
Grabbed lunch today at Simply Salad. It was great and the place was packed, with the sidewalk seating filled. It’s nice to see that block busy and it will only get better as the rest of those spaces fill in.
So glad to be up and running! Simply Salad loves DTLA and the support we are getting from everyone. Now come get a salad!
