Today, doors opened at 9am for the grand opening of Sprinkles Cupcakes at FIGat7th in Downtown LA. A very long line formed early on in front of the shop and continued to grow longer as the day progressed where hundreds of excited Sprinkles fans waited patiently to get their sweet fix and their chance to win a $100 Sprinkles gift card (aka “the golden ticket”) baked randomly into 10 cupcakes that would be sold throughout the day.

Sprinkles Cupcakes joins a solid list of other popular eateries that have opened (or plan to open) at FIGat7th including The Melt, Georges Greek Grill, Juicy Lucy, Indus, Oleego, Loteria Grill, Flying Pig, The Pizza Studio, Mendocino Farms, and City Tavern. As part of a recent $41 million remodeling project spearheaded by FIGat7th owner Brookfield Properties, these restaurants, in addition to City Target and Sport Chalet, are new exciting businesses that have transformed what was once an irrelevant and outdated shopping center into one of the best examples of the “new and upcoming Downtown LA.”

Sprinkles Cupcakes founder Candace Nelson opened her first store in Beverly Hills in 2004 and has grown her sweet pastry shop into one of the most successful cupcake chains in the country with locations in LA, NY, Chicago, DC, Dallas, and Houston.

  1. I’m super glad they’re going to be open at night. So many of the eateries at FIGat7th are just lunchtime affairs.

  2. It’s great that all these eateries are opening….what about the retail stores?

  3. I foresee every office in DTLA ordering boxes of these things in the next month.

  4. I’m still baffled at how long the line was that I noticed when I hit up Target. I’m from New York so I guess I run fast the other way when I see a line, but who wants to spend their lunch hour for a cupcake? And my co-worker knows the manager and she gave our office freebies on Monday. They were OKAY. not worth the hour wait, but good.

  5. They need to add a second door for exiting. Last time I was there, I was cramped in a corner until I made a fuss about it…very bad for business + slows down traffic!
