A lot of Downtown LA residents have been clamoring for more affordable, mid-priced food options given the fact that most restaurants that have opened downtown in the last few years have been pretty much high-end. That’s why I’m glad to report that 800 Degrees Neapolitan Pizzeria, which will be affordable and delicious, has signed a lease at 800 Wilshire located in the heart of the Financial District. This one’s gonna be easy to remember: “800 Degrees @ 800 Wilshire.” Got it?
800 Degrees (from the people who brought us Umami Burger) will be taking over the former Provecho Mexican restaurant space that shuttered in May 2010. At 4,800 square feet, this will be larger than the original location in Westwood Village that opened in Jan 2012. The new downtown location will be designed as a sit-down restaurant with bar service.
In addition to what 800 Degrees is known for, which is their “soft and chewy” thin crust pizzas that cook in about a minute in a wood burning oven, there will be a new concept deli operation that will offer 800 Degrees branded products to go. Opening in Downtown LA is part of the brand-conscious evolution of the small but growing chain with new locations opening at LAX’s beautiful Tom Bradley Terminal, Santa Monica, Pasadena, and Las Vegas.
Currently, 800 Degrees is in the design and permitting phase and is slated to open in late summer of 2014.
