On the southeast corner of 8th and Figueroa is a new restaurant called Local Table that has become a great addition to the ever growing list of downtown eateries. Local Table brings fresh American fare to the Financial District and South Park. Situated amongst the surrounding towering office high-rises, it’s already the new hot spot to grab lunch for throngs of hungry office workers. Moreover, the eatery is also a great new place for residents downtown as it has a casually comfortable ambiance like a cute little neighborhood spot.
Co-owned by restauranteur Benjamin Zev, Local Table replaces Colori @ Figueroa (same folks behind Colori Kitchen) that shuttered last year. Having soft opened last month (covered by Eater LA), the new eatery is now fully open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a focus on sourcing from local ingredients (hence the restaurant’s name). The menu includes fresh salads, sandwiches, and entree plates (seafood, chicken, beef) as well as a convenient grab-and-go section. In addition, Local Table makes their own in-house pastries and yogurt, fresh pressed juice, and serves Handsome Coffee from our very own Arts District. A bar in the back of the restaurant completes the picture with a wine list and about a dozen beers on tap.
When I finally saw the finished product after many months of construction, I was so excited to see how good the new restaurant looked inside (relative to what was there before). The new space was completely transformed into a modern and well appointed restaurant making great use of the space. A myriad of clear pendant lights drop from the ceiling above tables centered in the room paired with vintage classroom chairs. The centerpiece of the room is a large panorama of the Downtown LA skyline taken by downtown resident and photographer Hunter Kerhart.
Local Table is now open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner Mon thru Fri from 7:30 am to 10:00 pm and Sat from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm.
