The intersection of 9th and Broadway is hot, hot, hot! OAK NYC quietly opened its LA flagship store earlier today on Saturday on the ground floor of Tarina Tarantino’s Sparkle Factory. It wasn’t that long ago when this intersection was sadly forlorn and dominated by swap meets and check cashing centers. Now, it’s transforming into the epicenter of high fashion retail in Downtown LA with powerful ripple effects being felt throughout the country (and world) where even exclusive fashion circles are taking notice. The writing is on the wall: Downtown LA is coming back, and it’s coming back strong with a vengeance.
OAK NYC has two locations in New York (Noho and Brooklyn) and a new store in Paris, France. The LA flagship is the fourth store to open. At 2,200 square feet, OAK NYC is minimalistic in design and takes over a cavernous industrial space with soaring high ceilings, polished concrete floors, and thick concrete columns painted solid bright white. In addition to selling their own brand, OAK NYC also carries a slew of other avant-garde designer goodies — clothing for men, women, handbags, shoes, and accessories — you’d expect to find at somewhere like Opening Ceremony: Kelsi Dagger and Candamill both from Brooklyn, up-and-coming Jonathan Simkhai from New York and Jeremy Laing from Toronto, Won Hundred from Denmark, The Last Conspiracy, and Nanushka from Budapest.
OAK NYC is located at 910 S Broadway across from the new Ace Hotel and joins a growing list of new exciting retailers all clustered near 9th/Broadway including: Acne Studios global flagship, Tanner Goods from Portland, Aesop, A.P.C., and Urban Outfitters at the historic Rialto Theatre.
OAK NYC will be open seven days a week, Mon thru Sat from 11 am to 9 pm, and Sundays from 11 am to 7 pm.
