Just this past weekend, a beautiful new Aesop (apothecary) signature store opened at 9th/Broadway fueling the retail momentum along the historic thoroughfare. But it doesn’t stop there! The exciting flood of new retailers opening up in Downtown LA continues over at FIGat7th in the Financial District. Earlier today on Monday, H&M took down their construction boards at the open-air shopping center unveiling the brand new store to the public. Announced only half a year ago, this will be H&M’s largest flagship store in Southern California coming in at a whopping 32,000 square feet. Talk about making a huge statement coming into the DTLA market. The new store will carry H&M’s entire clothing collection including: men’s, women’s, lingerie and maternity, accessories, sports, and children’s apparel. Shoppers can rejoice as the grand opening is only a few days away set to open this Thursday at May 1, 2014 at noon.

In addition to H&M’s exciting unveiling today, a brand new Bath & Body Works opened today as well at FIGat7th (sandwiched between City Target and the forthcoming Victoria’s Secret store) with a completely updated interior design offering their full line of bath and beauty products. The new Bath & Body Works at FIGat7th will replace their older dated store at The Bloc (formerly Macy’s Plaza).

Next up: Zara opening around mid-May 2014.

  1. This is so exciting! Thanks for posting Brigham!

  2. This indeed is exciting! That is a very large H&M and I will check it out on opening day. I love our downtown. :-)

  3. H & M’s quality leaves much to be desired. I’m always surprised how popular a place is that sells disposable clothing. The IKEA of clothing, if you will.

On a more positive note, I’m very excited for downtown’s retail scene making a serious comeback. It took a while for other major retailers to take note, but new incredible energy in downtown L.A. is contagious. It’s no longer a question of places having a location in downtown, it’s now a question of WHEN. The demand is high as of now, and will only get stronger. Los Angeles is setting a good example for many parts of the country.

    • I concur! T-shirts and maybe underwear are all I ever buy there. But as you said, it’s good to have H&M in the mix.

  4. This energy is going to be so electric here! Especially at night! Wouldn’t it be cool if both the Ernst & Young building and the wedding cake tower (I forget the name) had translucent digital buildings on the inner corners of the buildings? It would sort of pull people in from 7th and Figueroa as well as 8th and Figueroa and just add more energy to Figueroa in general.

  5. When the new Wilshire Grand and the Bloc gets finished, maybe this will be the new West Coast Time Square rather then L.A. Live after all it’s here where they’re building more now and putting a lot of retail and restaurants.

    • hmmmm more like Herald Square i think, which is a retail hub and has the largest Macy’s store in the country. i feel like Broadway is to become a non-disneyfied times square.. without the flashy LED jumbotrons, but only with old school neon lights, spectaculars and architectural lighting :) Hollywood blvd on the other hand is basically times square without the skyscraper canyon, which I’m ok with since its the only one in LA.

L.A. Live will feel more complete once LA Central, Metropolis and other lots surrounding it get completed.. it sticks out like a sore thumb because its the only one so far with all the lights.. The Courtyard Marriot will help a little in making the area feel just right.. give the place time. Times Square didn’t just happen overnight or in 5 years.. it took time to be what it is today.
