So it was “supposed to” open yesterday on June 4th, but there was a small tiny delay because of one little city inspection that still needed to be passed before Zara could finally open. The inspection happened literally at midnight (last night) and obviously went smoothly because Zara opened their doors today at 10 am. All the window coverings were removed, revealing a beautifully built out store that becomes a solid anchor at the FIGat7th shopping center (along with H&M and City Target). Nevertheless, one more day of not opening felt like an entire week for many of us who have been eager to see LA’s newest and largest Zara flagship store open in Downtown LA, signaling the rising change happening to our once-desolate and abandoned urban core.
At 27,000 square feet, this is Zara’s largest “top” store in Los Angeles and is a huge statement that retailers finally see downtown as not only a viable market but also a location that retailers want to make their presence known. The one-level sprawling space is currently divided into two completely separate sections: the men’s store is located closer to Figueroa and the women’s/children’s store is located directly next door closer to H&M. Each store is further divided into different sections featuring a diverse range of collections from casual to formal. Eventually, I was told that the separated men’s and women’s stores would hopefully be combined if they can figure out how to work around the internal hallway for the shopping center.
The new Downtown LA Zara store hours will be open 10 am to 9 pm from Monday through Saturday, and 11 am to 8 pm on Sundays.
