Aussie Fast-Fashion BNKR Opening First US Store in Downtown LA

Aussie fast fashion label BNKR will be debuting their first US location in Downtown LA this year at 9th/Broadway

As we wait eagerly for high-end French label A.P.C. to open (hopefully) later this month near 9th and Broadway, we have yet another fashion forward brand from Australia that will be making this hot intersection into their new US flagship debut that is sure to make a lot of women very happy. First reported on Apparel News, the fast-fashion Aussie brand BNKR (pronounced “bunker”) will be opening their very first brick and mortar store outside of their only other store in Adelaide, Australia here in Downtown LA at the historic 1916 Blackstone building, which was a former department store converted to 82 lofts in 2010.

The approximately 6,000 square foot store (larger than the global flagship Acne Studios across the street) will wrap around almost the entire building’s ground floor perimeter along Broadway and 9th Street. The arrival of BNKR really helps fill in this amazing intersection nicely as more momentum continues to build for other retailers to open in the Historic Core.

BNKR, owned by parent company Australian Fashion Brands, owns other labels including Cameo, Finders Keepers, Keepsake, The Fifth, and their higher end line TY-LR. In addition, their online store carries other independent brands like Jeffrey Campbell and Sol Sana that may likely end up in their new Downtown LA flagship store as well.

BNKR has already begun construction and is slated to open in the next few months, so expect sometime possibly in summer.

Aw, does this mean the Home Depot fence/yard furniture/plastic fountain display out front is going away forever? Damn. ;)

Great news! And good riddance to that fence/fountain setup. It was terribly tacky.

Their site says that an Aussie 14 is a US 10. They are out of their goddamn minds.

I didn’t mind the ‘tacky’ fence/fountain setup they had on the sidewalk, but BNKR coming to this part of Broadway adds to the retail momentum here. Gotta love it!

  4. Not a place that I would be likely to patronize (unless they also sell Ben Davis work clothes) but it looks like downtown is getting some upscale action going. Good on you, mates!
