The underground international art phenomenon Secret Walls is preparing its first DTLA showdown for Thursday, October 27 at One Santa Fe in the Arts District. Created by UK’s Terry Guy and inspired by graphic artists, Marvel comics and graffiti, this 10-year fixture in the global art community is the world’s premier live art event.
People of Downtown, brace yourselves… the ‘Fight Club’ of the art scene is coming, and #PaintWillSpill.
From 6pm – 9pm, two street artists will style up two massive white canvases in boldly black painted imagery while the crowd cheers in decibels for their vote. Alongside them, two neutral guest judges will assist in choosing the winner that proceeds on to the next round. All the while, an electric atmosphere will be layered with DJs, drinks, voting power, time pressure, and the thrill of watching freestyle artwork take flight.
It’s an experience that connects you to the artist as you watch them freestyle on a large piece before your eyes, showing the process of the work that we are so used to seeing as finished pieces in galleries.
The kicker – this showdown is FREE to attend!
The arena is the central corridor of the Shops at One Santa Fe. During the event, the collective of culinary concepts, boutique stores, salons and apparel including, A Shop Called Quest, Amazebowls, Benjamin Salon, Bulletproof Coffee, Cafe’ Gratitude, ediBOL, Grow, Hennessey + Ingalls, HUE, Malin + Goetz, Nailbox, Van Leeuwen, Voyager, Westbound and Wittmore, will be offering various promotions and specials.
When: Thursday • October 27 • 6pm – 9pm
