Back in June 2016, we announced that one of Downtown LA’s most successful independent retailers — the purveyor of fashion’s hottest trends and accessories, Brigade LA — was opening a brand new and exciting flagship location at LA Live in Downtown LA’s burgeoning South Park district. About a half a year later, Brigade LA has opened its new store adding to a growing mix of businesses coalescing around LA Live and the Staples Center.
Located on Olympic Blvd on the ground floor of the Residence Inn and Courtyard by Marriott hotel (yes, they’re still considered part of LA Live), Brigade LA soft opened earlier this month welcoming customers from not only downtown and the rest of Los Angeles, but hotel guests from all over the world visiting Downtown LA. A special grand opening will be held on Valentine’s Day this year celebrating the store’s arrival to South Park.
The new store is a bigger and better version of its previous location over at 7th and Olive. Going from 2,100 square feet to a massive 6,000 square foot space (about half is actually allocated for retail sales), store owner Kuo Yang had jumped at the opportunity to upgrade his store brand with a new perfect and complementary location at LA Live’s hotel property. The space has soaring 23-foot ceilings with a 60-foot wide bay of windows facing Olympic Blvd directly across the street from the JW Marriott/Ritz-Carlton.
Brigade LA carries clothing, shoes, leather goods, accessories, and gift items for both men and women and some kids as well. The store is mostly geared toward women, but Yang said he plans to expand the collection for men in response to the increased demand from guys looking to shop in downtown. Some of the brands carried in the store include: Adriano Goldschmeid, Ted Baker, Marc Jacobs, Kate Spade, Canada Goose, and Lacoste.
One of the most interesting points to me about Brigade LA’s new location is that it’s the first retailer to open at LA Live that will hopefully set a new precedent for the area by diversifying the business mix outside of just restaurants and bars. Creating a dynamic shopping experience, in addition to dining and entertainment, will attract a broader range of people that makes a city center vibrant and exciting every day of the week.
Brigade LA is open Mon thru Sat 10 am to 8 pm and Sun 10 am to 7 pm. For more info, including hours, location, and full collection, visit Brigade LA online.
