In addition to Pappa Rich now open for a couple of weeks, other restaurant developments have been happening in Old Pasadena.
From the people who brought you BarCelona and Villa Sorriso, it looks like IX Tapa Cantina will be their next concept replacing Fred’s Mexican Cafe on the corner of Arroyo Parkway and Colorado Blvd. Preparation for build out started immediately after they closed escrow. Perhaps this one will make it in time for the holidays.
The rapidly expanding restaurant chain, The Counter Custom Built Burgers, is now officially open in Pasadena on Shoppers Lane (in back of the newly branded Cafe 140). Only open for less than two days, the restaurant has already gotten off to a strong start as I passed by tonight to a pretty packed house. So how does this burger joint differentiate itself from the next? From their website: “Our 312,120+ different burger combinations make every burger as unique as each customer. Rarely is the same burger made twice in one day.” There you go!
A small update on some restaurant happenings going on in Old Pasadena.
Some updates around Pasadena pertaining to your taste buds!
Some exciting new developments in the Pasadena dining scene. Elements Kitchen will be taking over a former Moroccan restaurant at the Pasadena Playhouse and complementing Zona Rosa Caffe a couple of doors down on El Molino Ave. Naga Naga Ramen gets its new signage up. And a new “American restaurant” will be taking over the Siena space on Union St.
What used to be E’s is now Liv Lounge! Asking the contractors while they worked on the new lounge, I inferred that the business was still owned by the same people, but they just decided to give it a nice facelift (and new name). From what I could tell, the new place is much trendier and better designed than its previous version. It is a nice addition to the night life that Old Pasadena thrives on.
